Join Our TreeForce: Speak for the Trees
At GATE, we empower you to become a steward of Trees. TreeForce volunteers help us identify and support urban and wild trees in need. Trees stressed human acts, by drought, fire, storms, or other natural consequences (fallen limbs, fire hazards, wildlife challenges). Guardians Around The Earth has programs specifically designated to support these Earth Guardians.
Urban Tree Efforts – TreeForce members find trees in their neighborhoods and towns which need assistance. These amazing volunteers help add trees to our database to track ongoing efforts, help us reach out to land owners and interested parties with educational assistance and work in intervention partnership to assist Trees. The below video gives a glimpse into the vital work of TreeForce volunteers.
WNTRS – Wild Native Tree Re-Seed program assists native Trees in distress. WNTRS helpers work with others to document Tree family environment conditions, harvest seeds and surrounding mycorrhizal which supports family, then foster Tree seedlings. Our final intervention step is to reintroduce seedlings to their original family location. This aids continuous group interaction and support with the hope of promoting ancestral ‘grove’ growth versus new ‘crop’ growth. Sign up on FORM below to be a WNTRS volunteer.
How YOU can Help:
Wherever you are, you can help the Trees around you. We use a multi-step process to ensure effective and safe interventions:
- Understanding Your Ecosystem:
- Know Your Environment: Whether in wild or urban settings, understand your local ecosystem’s normal conditions and identify anything unusual. Research existing urban forestry plans – no need to reinvent the wheel!
- Prioritize Safety (The Buddy System): Always work with a buddy to minimize risks. If surroundings indicate recent wildlife interaction, personal safety comes FIRST. Revisit next month. Never climb a tree for service unless properly trained and anchored. Remember, you are working at your own risk – GATE suggests: Take None.
- Assess Environmental Issues: Look for trees stressed by drought, fire, storms, or other natural consequences (fallen limbs, fire hazards, wildlife challenges). If major disaster recovery is underway, avoid interference; revisit when safe.
- Identify Urban Stressors: In urban areas, observe trees suffering from the effects of human activity. Coordinate efforts with any urban forestry planners or landscape maintenance crews. See below photos for ideas on intervention needs.
- Found a Needy Tree? Add it to Our Database in Three Easy Steps:
- Identify: Note the tree species and GPS location.
- Document: Take clear photos of the tree, its base, and surroundings.
- Report: Fill out [THIS FORM] and check your email for confirmation and next steps

Removal of two support poles and metal bindings that entirely surrounded tree gives this beauty an opportunity for healthy growth.
